Destination DC’S Dining Power program allows our clients to take a tour of your private dining space and meet the staff while dining at your restaurant. By hosting a meal, clients have the opportunity to experience your restaurant during their planning process or assignment, which could result in your restaurant being the location of a future board meeting, exhibitor event during a convention, or being featured in a premier industry magazine. FotoWeek DC Awards Competition
The second annual FotoWeek DC Awards call for entries is currently underway. This year, the competition has expanded from regional to international and as always, the competition is open to amateur, professional, and student photographers. The Awards deadline is Sep. 13. Crystal City Marriott Holiday Showcase

Executive Directors, Inc.(EDI)/ Chicago Area Convention & Visitors Bureaus Satellite Offices (CACBSO) Reverse Tradeshow
In Milwaukee on Aug. 31, Destination DC Convention Sales Manager Dawn Holden participated for the third year at this valuable lead-generating event.  EDI invited 16 of their top association customers to exhibit at the show. The day began with lunch and a presentation on developing partnerships with CVBs to enhance the meeting experience for association meeting attendees, and ended with a networking reception. During the event, Destination DC was able to meet new potential customers and reconnect with booked business, including the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy whose 2010 annual meeting will be in DC.  

HSMAI’s Affordable Meetings
Destination DC Conference Sales Managers Michelle Soto and Brian Barry-Austin joined the Walter E. Washington Convention Center sales team at the HSMAI show on Sep. 9-10. The event allowed the team to meet with planners and highlight DC’s position as an inspiring destination to host successful meetings and events. Additionally, they also attended seminars regarding the latest trends and technologies in the industry.

Power List

  • The International Spy Museum welcomed its 5 millionth visitor over the Labor Day weekend.  Since its opening in July 2002, the Museum has helped to shape the vibrant new face of downtown DC.  The Museum continues to be a cornerstone in the Penn Quarter redevelopment and a must-see for Washingtonians and visitors worldwide. 
  • Condé Nast Traveler recently announced the winners of the magazine‘s third annual World Savers Awards, naming Washington DC’s Willard InterContinental overall winner in the City Hotel category, citing the hotel’s 100% wind energy, commitment to the environment and communities in need.
